Tech, Tea, and Biscuits (TTaB) is a free, community-based initiative launched in March 2024 to help older adults overcome digital exclusion. Hosted in local community centres, it offers one-to-one support with smartphones, tablets, laptops, and internet use—making technology more accessible in a relaxed, face-to-face setting. By connecting participants with other centre services like food banks and exercise classes, TTaB also helps reduce social isolation and provides extra support during the cost-of-living crisis.

As more essential services move online, older people risk being left behind due to a lack of digital skills or confidence. TTaB bridges this gap by pairing older adults with trained young volunteers, creating a welcoming environment where learning feels personal and empowering. Whether it’s navigating the NHS App or accessing online deals, TTaB ensures that older individuals aren’t excluded from vital services or financial savings simply because they’re offline.

Tech, Tea, and Biscuits is now averaging 145 sessions per month!

We have reached 135 sessions so far in June and are well on our way to achieving another fantastic milestone. With the continued support of everyone involved, we are looking forward to building on this momentum over the coming weeks.

Onward and upward!

A big thank you goes out to everyone who has been part of this journey, including The National Lottery Community Fund, Cripplegate Foundation, our delivery partners, the young people on the 21CS Project who support and take part in the sessions, and everyone who has joined us along the way.

Their continued support helps make the Tech, Tea, and Biscuits project possible, and we could not do it without them!

Ayyub, a 17-year-old 21CS student, provides one-to-one support to resident Sylivia at her local community centre, Light Project Pro International, located on the Laycock Estate in Islington.

Meshach, a 21-year-old new recruit and trainee Tech Champ, received mentoring on how to deliver a TTaB session at Whittington Park Community Centre. This session focused on providing mobile phone support.

Anas thoroughly enjoyed supporting local Hilldrop resident Veronica – the session was filled with smiles 😃.

Sammy to the rescue – our aspiring Tech Champs are always on hand to support you with your tech needs. 🙌🏽
